Nowadays planetary gearboxes are broadly used on diverse industrial machines for high efficiency and stability (see "Gearbox Advantage"). Before involving in deeper level of applying we need to know the mechanical element and construct inside the planetary gearbox.
What is a Planetary Gearbox?

A planetary gearbox is a mechanical device consisting of sun gear, the planet gears, the carrier of planet gears, and the ring gear. Sun gear is located at the center that transmits torque to planet gears orbiting around the sun gear. Planet and sun gears are located inside the ring gear. Multi-staged planetary gearbox is available by connecting the individual stage in sequence. With the gear unit combination the individual stage is sized to the torque requirement.

Function of the Planetary Gearbox
Providing the conversions of speed and torque.
A planetary gearbox is a gear system utilized to increase the output torque and reduce load inertia while slowdown the speed. A gearbox provides speed and torque conversions from a rotating power source to another device using gear ratio. It can be used in various situations, such as precise machine tools, and anywhere else mechanical equipment.

Output Shaft / Planet Carrier
The integrally formed planet carrier with output shaft can provide excellent torsional rigidity; through precisely machining, the inside gears can be kept in concentricity, and wont' get in the deviation of a curve or orbit from circularity, but reduce the noise and wear caused by mutual interference.
Output Housing
The output housing is made of aluminum alloy, which provides the excellent heat dissipation capacity and can reduce the variation of high temperature brings to, but deliver excellent performance in long time operating.
Planetary Gears
The planetary gears are made of alloy steel, which are tempered and heat treated for achieving the hardness HRC 30 degrees, then subjected to nitride surface treatment to obtain HV860, therefore the gears have high surface hardness and core toughness to optimize the strength and life.
Input Shaft / Sun Gear
The input shaft of gearbox and the output shaft of motor are connected by a bolted structure with a round shaft symmetrical design. Through the dynamic balance analysis, it ensures them to be kept the consistent without eccentric load at high speeds while reducing the radial force which the load at the motor side can be effectively reduced.
Input Adatper
The input adapter of aluminum alloy goes through the procedure of precise lathed, for providing better heat dissipation, concentricity and verticality, to make the gearbox can be steadily combined with various motors, and reduce the axial and radial force caused by insufficient precision, furthermore extend the life cycle.
